About The Nissan Front Passenger Airbag Recall

What is the recall?
Nissan North America (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Leaf and 2014, 2016 and 2017 Sentra vehicles. A error by the manufacturer involving the airbag inflators may cause the front passenger airbag to deploy incorrectly or not at all in the event of a collision. The potential number of units affected by this recall is 25,283. The NHTSA campaign number is: 17V253000.

What's the risk if I don't bring it in?
Should the airbag inflator be left unchecked, passenger air bags in units affected by this recall may not deploy correctly resulting in an increased risk of injury to front seat passengers.

Will I get a formal notice?
Yes. Nissan will begin notifying owners of all potentially affected vehicles. For more information, you may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261. You can also search recalls by VIN number here: https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/.

Vehicle Identification Number

You can check on the current recall information for your specific vehicle here by using your VIN number. VIN stands for "vehicle identification number." It is comprised of 17 alphanumeric characters uniquely linked to your vehicle. Any car newer than 1980 will have this identification number. This number also contains engine size, body style, model year, transmission type, color, and more. You can find the VIN on the inside of your driver's seat door or on the top of the dashboard (usually on the driver's side as well.) If you have trouble locating your VIN, Nalley Nissan of Cumming can help you with this. Finding this number is important for more than just identifying recalls. Without a VIN, your car was either repaired, damaged or could even possibly be stolen.
